PEMALL FK-5-1-12 FIRE PROTECTION FLUID CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent is the new generation of clean agent fire suppressant chemicals based on sustainable technology and is the only chemical agent currently available that meets the most stringent actual and future environmental standards. The clean extinguishing agent is a clear, colorless and low odor liquid perfectly suited to protect high value assets in areas that may be normally occupied, in locations where clean-up of other agents is difficult. Its ASHRAE nomenclature the way it is designated in the NFPA 2001 and ISO 14529 clean agent standards is FK-5-1-12mmy2.
PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent is formed from the elements carbon, fluorine and oxygen CF3CF2C(O)CF(CF3)2 – dodecafluoro-2-methylpentan-3-one. The primary extinguishing mechanism of FK-5-1-12mmy2 Clean Agent is heat absorption, with a secondary chemical contribution from the thermal decomposition of FK-5-1-12mmy2 Clean Agent in the flame. PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent leaves no residue and is safe for use in occupied spaces.
PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent is an environmentally acceptable, human compatible clean agent for vital facilities with a wide range of hazards. PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent suppresses the fire by removing the heat energy and interrupting the combustion processes.
As a clean agent, PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent offers these benefits:
• Five-day atmospheric lifetime
• No post-fire residue to clean up
• No damage to protected equipment
• Is electronically non-conductive
• A large margin of safety for occupied spaces

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS
PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent is applied as a gas, but is liquid at room temperature, it has been tested and verified to be safe for use in occupied spaces when used as specified in the U.S. EPA Significant and New Alternative Policy (SNAP) rules. Tests have proven that exposure to PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent is safe and effective in extinguishing fires at low concentrations; all of which are well below the EPA’s maximum exposure levels.
The EPA Significant New Alternative Program (SNAP) lists FK-5-1-12mmy2 Clean Agent as acceptable for occupied spaces, NFPA Standard 2001 and SNAP list the following guidelines for human exposure:
PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent has a NOAEL (No Observed Adverse Effect Level – The highest concentration at which no adverse toxicological or physiological effect has been observed) of 10.0% v/v with no restrictions. The maximum exposure time shall not exceed five (5) minutes. Avoid any exposure greater than 10% v/v LOAEL (Lowest Observable Adverse Effect Level – The lowest concentration at which an adverse physiological or toxicological effect has been observed). The discharge of PEMALL FK-5-1-12 Clean Agent into a hazard may reduce visibility for a brief period.
